Karen, we call these Milkweed, never have really figured out why but I think they "bleed" a milky substance if you break them off on the stalk. My dad says this reminds him of when I was born...late October because often these are going to seed during that time. He has some nice pictures of us as kids in the Milkweed. So, I think they are special because of that. I hope you are coping with the chemo. We are always thinking of you all!
